Charlotte has had eczema since she was 3 years old. She is 28 now. That is 25 years of flare ups, every cream her dermatologist recommended, every diet change, every so-called miracle product. Some things helped temporarily. Nothing fixed it.
In 2024 I got injured playing basketball and couldn't do much except sit and think. I started going down a rabbit hole. Cleaned up everything in our house — glass containers, air purifier, tap water filter, silk sheets. I became slightly obsessed.
Then I got to the shower.
We spend 8 minutes every day in hot water with our pores completely open. In WA and SA, your water authority adds chlorine as a disinfectant — it has to be there to keep the pipes safe. That's not a conspiracy. It's infrastructure. But for Charlotte's skin, that daily exposure was keeping the cycle going no matter what cream she put on afterwards.
I found the Australian Water Quality Centre. Tested 12 filters. Couldn't find one I trusted for Charlotte's skin specifically, so I built Piora.
